Yonkers residents make stand against crime with 'Operation Cooperation'

(08/24/05) YONKERS ? Hundreds gathered Wednesday night as part of an effort to band southwest Yonkers residents together against violent crime.

Former schoolteacher Bob Stauf organized the gathering, the first meeting of a plan called ?Operation Cooperation.? According to Stauf, residents cannot stand idly by and watch others around them get hurt. Stauf says crime can be reduced with increased police patrols, attentive political leaders and active residents.

Residents taking part in Operation Cooperation plan on meeting again on September 20. Anyone interested in participating can call the 3rd Precinct Police Community Council at (914) 476-2284.
