Somers police officer brings man back to life

A man is lucky to be alive thanks to the actions of a Somers police officer and a defibrillator.

Burton Elion went into cardiac arrest while in a restaurant in Somers Thursday. Three nurses from Northern Westchester Hospital were in the restaurant and performed CPR. Police Officer John Fitzgerald had a defibrillator in his squad car when he responded to the call. Fitzgerald used the defibrillator to get Elion?s heart beating again.

Elion is recovering at the Putnam Hospital Center and says he is grateful for the life-saving help from Officer Fitzgerald.
