The Terrorist Next Door - Part I

Security has taken on a whole new meaning since the September 11th attacks four years ago. News12 takes a look at changes in police work and a new vigilance by residents who are watching if there are terrorists living among them.

Police in Westchester and around the country are operating differently since 9/11 and the bombings in London in July. Now, police are linked with almost every federal agency and those connections are used on a daily basis. Investigators trying to track a possible terrorist use a central reporting system in New York called the UNIRYC, the Upstate Regional Intelligence Center.

Police say they need more watchful eyes. They say the best defense against terrorism is for every member of the public to look at people around them more closely.
