Hurricane Katrina drive runs into unanticipated problem in Scarsdale

A Hurricane Katrina drive in Scarsdale was supposed to run until 4 p.m. Sunday, however organizers began turning people away after just three hours.

The response from the community was so overwhelming that the Scarsdale firefighters could not fit any more items into the truck. One firefighter said he thought the giving spirit was motivated because the drive was held on September 11.

A Manhattan moving company donated vehicles, drivers and time to bring the items to Alabama.
