Police make arrest in revenge murder in Mount Vernon

Police in Mount Vernon have made an arrest in the murder of a man who was recently paroled from prison.

Mount Vernon detectives arrested Mark Powell, 40, for the murder of 27-year-old Curtis Liburd. In August of 1998, Powell accused Liburd of shooting him in the knee and ankle. Liburd went to jail that shooting and another in Mount Vernon, and was paroled five months ago. Police say Liburd was shot near his mother?s home Saturday, and they believe it to be a retaliation killing.
