Westchester volunteers getting ready to help with hurricane relief if needed

The American Red Cross in Westchester is getting ready to head toward the Gulf Coast of Texas and Louisiana if they get the call.

The Red Cross already has 70 volunteers in New Orleans, and they have another 300 trained volunteers who can also head south. They say they have never had that many people willing to help.

The National Hurricane Center says that Hurricane Rita is expected to pack the power of Hurricane Katrina. President Bush is expected to visit Texas Friday for a firsthand look at preparations for Hurricane Rita. He is expected to meet with emergency workers there and then head to Colorado.

Hurricane Rita is a Category 3 storm and is expected to make landfall in Galveston, Texas by Saturday morning.
