Off-duty county cop severs leg in motorcycle accident

An off-duty Westchester County police officer severed his leg Saturday after crashing his motorcycle on Midland Avenue.

Christopher Koehlein, 33, was taken to Westchester County Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition but is expected to survive. Police say the accident happened just before 1:30 p.m.

Yonkers police say the accident is still under investigation but it appears no other vehicle was involved. Police say they believe Koehlein may have lost control of his motorcycle.
