Closing arguments heard in murder trial of convicted Westchester sex offender

Closing arguments were heard Tuesday in the murder trial of a convicted sex offender accused of killing a 12-year-old Yonkers boy and dumping his body off the Saw Mill River Parkway.

Yonkers native Robert DeRosario is charged with kidnapping and murdering Orlandito Rosario-Maldonado in November of 1998. His body was discovered three months later. The defense claims there is a lack of DNA evidence linking Maldonado to DeRosario. But prosecutors say their witnesses tell it all.

DeRosario is already serving a 10-year prison sentence for sodomizing teenage boys. If DeRosario is convicted, he faces an additional 25 years to life in prison.
