Firefighters discover body in garage of burned Mount Pleasant home

A fire at a home in Mount Pleasant remains under investigation Monday after firefighters discovered a body in the garage.

The fatal fire occurred Sunday afternoon on Park Street. Police confirm the homeowners were away at the time of the blaze. The medical examiner is now working to figure out the exact cause of death of the victim.

The victim?s identity has not yet been released, but one teenager told News 12 Westchester that that a 16-year-old high school student was home alone at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
