Golfers pay big bucks to tee off for a good cause in Briarcliff Manor

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani and Donald Trump hosted a charity golf outing Thursday in Briarcliff Manor.

Participants paid $10,000 each to play a round of golf at the Trump National Golf Club. Guiliani, Trump and their wives organized the fundraiser, which raised money for victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The Giulianis and the Trumps say they hope to raise in excess of $1 million to donate AmeriCares, which provides emergency medical needs in disasters around the world.

In an effort to raise even more money, Guiliani was auctioneer at an auction and there were other incentives such as a 2006 Maserati as a prize for a hole in one. Golfers said they were glad to play for such a good cause.
