Criminal investigation underway in suspicious Cortlandt fire

A criminal investigation into a suspicious fire in the Mohegan Lake area of Cortlandt is underway Friday. Flames broke out around midnight at 3211 East Main Street near the Cortlandt Town Center. A man who lived in the building said he feels someone set the fire and blocked the door to trap him inside. Two people suffered minor injuries and four others were left homeless.A dog used to investigate arson cases found evidence of an accelerant in front of the door. Officials, however, could not confirm the fire was deliberately set. State police are conducting interviews to see if they can find out who might have wanted to set the fire.
