Police make arrest in 1991 Elmsford murder case

Police finally made an arrest in a 1991 Elmsford murder case due to the determination and cooperation from several agencies.

According to police, Calvin Tyrell was on the run for almost 14 years after being accused of shooting his best friend, Ansell Barrett, back in December 1991 at a house party. Due to the joint efforts of Elmsford and Westchester County police detectives and the U.S. Marshal Service, Tyrell was arrested in Florida.

Detectives determined that Tyrell, a native of Jamaica, was using an alias that linked him to his girlfriend in Elmsford at the time of the murder. U.S Marshal's traced the girlfriend to Florida where they spotted Tyrell at her house and arrested him.
