Heavy winds cause trees to topple on cars and houses in Pleasantville

Strong winds caused trees to topple on cars and houses in Pleasantville Sunday morning.

The Department of Public Works was on hand to remove a tree from Pleasantville Road after it landed on a passing car. Officials say the driver of the car was taken to Westchester Medical Center and is expected to recover. On Roselle Avenue a tree branch landed on top of a house. Officials say they are concerned that any trees weakened by days of rain or that have suffered insect damage will come down easily during these high winds. Meanwhile, officials say there are 4,000 power outages in Orange and Rockland counties due to the wind storms.
