Westchester County executive candidates spar at debate

The candidates running for Westchester County executive traded verbal punches at a debate Wednesday.

Some of the topics Democratic incumbent Andy Spano and Republican challenger Rob Astorino sparred about were taxes, social services and Indian Point. Astorino accused Spano of being out of touch with the needs of the county?s struggling families by allowing taxes to increase. Spano fired back saying his opponent has voted for tax hikes in the past.

Spano is seeking his third term as Westchester County executive. Astorino served on the Mount Pleasant Town Council Board before becoming a county legislator last year.
