Yonkers police, firefighters stage drill to prepare for terrorist attack

Hundreds of Yonkers police, firefighters and EMS workers participated in an emergency drill Saturday at the Metro-North station.

In the event of a terrorist attack in New York City, Yonkers would be the first major hub victims would be transported to. Firefighters, police officers and EMS volunteers must be trained so the response to such an attack becomes automatic for them.

Officials say the drill gives police and fire departments a chance to work together and see what resources are needed and identify shortcomings. Police and fire officials will evaluate the drill and see if improvements are needed.
