Mount Vernon Public Library reopens after months of repairs

After being shut down for months, the Mount Vernon Public Library reopened its doors Monday.

The 33 employees that were temporarily laid off when the roof repairs and asbestos cleanup began in August are all back to work. Meanwhile, Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis says the city wants to have more of a say as to what goes on at the library. The city will appoint trustees, become more involved with union negotiations and seek legislation to make it a city library.
