Student stabbed at Westchester Community College

One student is under arrest Friday after police say he stabbed another student at Westchester Community College in Valhalla.

County police along with campus security combed the grounds to find the suspect and the weapon after two students got into a fight that turned violent. County police say the two students had fought before, over some kind of property. The student was stabbed in the trunk of his body. Fortunately, the wound is non-life threatening.

The scene unfolded just as students were getting petitions signed to get the county to give the school more money for campus security. Many students say the stabbing incident underscores the need for more security.

A college spokesperson says security has been upgraded in the last few years with better training for personnel and call boxes on campus.
