New Rochelle residents call for heightened security after string of violence

Residents are calling for heightened security after two shootings in three weeks in one New Rochelle neighborhood.

Many who live in the Hartley Houses complex say there is a sense of fear in their community. They say that talk of retaliation for the murder of 25-year-old Raymond Harris, who was killed on Halloween night, has them on edge. Residents claim since money to fund security guards inside the building was eliminated, their only protection comes through police survelliance.

Tenants say they are hoping to stop the violence by coming together for a meeting Monday. Meanwhile, New Rochelle police say they are beefing up patrols to hopefully avoid any further violence.
