Republican DiFiore claims victory in Westchester DA race

Republican Janet DiFiore claimed victory Tuesday night in the race for Westchester district attorney.

DiFiore, a former state judge, will replace outgoing District Attorney Jeanine Pirro, who has held the position for 12 years. DiFiore believes her record of achievement in criminal justice and her service to the community as a judge and prosecutor helped her win. She says Westchester residents should expect every strong prosecution initiative to continue and new initiatives to begin over the next four years.

Meanwhile, her Democratic challenger Tony Castro says he is not ready to concede. DiFiore won 51 percent of the vote, however, Castro says more votes need to be counted and feels many of those votes will be in his favor.
