Ballots being recounted in Westchester County district attorney race
Voting machines are being checked and re-checked at a Mount Vernon firehouse in the race for Westchester County district attorney.
Democratic contender Tony Castro says several hundred votes from heavily Democratic neighborhoods in Westchester have not been counted. Election officials have brought machines to the South 6th Avenue firehouse to individually check machines against the recorded numbers.
Election officials say the recounting process is a slow task but when it?s done, all Westchester County races will have accurate voter counts. In the district attorney race, Republican Janet DiFiore is leading Tony Castro by 7,000 votes.
