Democrat concedes Westchester DA race

Democratic candidate Tony Castro conceded the race for Westchester district attorney Thursday.

Castro?s concession came after a recanvassing of voting machines produced no significant change in the numbers. Republican Janet DiFiore, who had already been declared the winner, will now succeed Jeanine Pirro in the position. Pirro, who served for 12 years, gave up the post to run in next year?s Senate race against Hillary Clinton.

At first, Castro would not concede the race in which DiFiore had a nearly 7,000 vote lead. The recount was cut short by Castro?s announcement.
