Three arrested, 11 suspended in Mount Vernon H.S. brawls

Three students were arrested and 11 were suspended Friday after fights erupted throughout Mount Vernon High School.

Police were called after four separate brawls started and the school was placed on lockdown. Mount Vernon police say 16-year-old Nichae Alston was arrested for hitting a police officer. Nichae?s father, Herbert Alston, is not excusing his daughter?s actions but says the scene at the school was chaotic. A 16-year-old male student was also arrested for kicking out a school bus window and another teen for disorderly conduct.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident and say that more arrests are possible.
