Officials probe house fire in Cortlandt

A home in Cortlandt went up in flames Monday and fire officials say it may not have been an accident.

Firefighters say they got the call just before 5 a.m. concerning a house fire on Lafayette Avenue. Officials say when they arrived flames were shooting out of every window and door. Both homeowners escaped without injury, as did their two pets. No firefighters were injured in the blaze. The Westchester County Cause and Origin Team is searching through the debris to try and determine the cause. Officials say there is some indication that the fire is suspicious. Investigators say the house was under some renovation and the homeowners may have been trying to sell it.
