Residents pack Westchester County Airport for weekend getaway

Dubbed the busiest travel day of the year, Westchester County Airport was packed with people traveling in and out of the county Wednesday.

Most of the outbound flights in the airport went along smoothly, however, passengers arriving from the Midwest had to deal with snowy conditions. No extra flights were added and the planes are full, so those going out to the airport are advised to arrive early. Other travelers took the train to the plane, so the Metropolitan Transit Authority added additional trains for the holiday weekend.

For those traveling by car, state police are increasing DWI checkpoints. They also initiated a zero-tolerance seat-belt enforcement, which will be in effect until Sunday.
