Memory of Thornwood high school student lives on in charity run

The memory of a former Westlake High School student lives on as friends and students run for a charity in his name in Thornwood Saturday.

John David Barresi graduated from the school in 1996 and went to join the Navy. Barresi collapsed and died in a race shortly after finishing boot camp. Approximately 75 runners participated in the Ninth Annual John David Barresi Turkey Trot.

The money raised in the 5K run will be used for a college scholarship fund named after Barresi to help Westlake track and field students.
