Report on aging Tappan Zee Bridge made public
A 2004 safety report that found the Tappan Zee Bridge is rusted and crumbling was recently made public.
Holes, cracks, rust and deterioration are all words used to describe the aging structure. According to the report, one of the major reasons for the deterioration is poor drainage. Despite the report, the Thruway Authority says the problems have been and are being addressed. Thruway officials maintain that the bridge is safe overall.
Six options to replace the bridge are being considered. The Department of Transportation is now in charge of the future plans for the bridge.Related Story:
