Parents meet with officials after Scarsdale principal suspended

Hundreds of parents and parishioners who met with officials Monday night about a Scarsdale principal?s suspension are still wondering why he was suspended.

The Immaculate Heart of Mary School suspended Robert Billings the day before Thanksgiving. Billings was principal for 20 years and parents say no one can tell them why he was suspended. Some say the church?s pastor, Father Robert Verrigni, may know why Billings was suspended, but he is away until Thursday. Some parishioners blame Verrigni for driving many staff members away.

Meanwhile, the New York Archdiocese sent its assistant superintendent of area schools to fill in as principal at the Immaculate Heart of Mary School.
