Yonkers lights up Larkin Plaza for second year in a row
For the second year in a row, the city of Yonkers is lighting up Larkin Plaza.
Hundreds of kids from all over the city joined Mayor Phil Amicone to sing, dance and light the Christmas tree. Following the ceremony at Larkin Plaza, the children joined the mayor for another tree lighting ceremony in Getty Square. After the city decided to make the switch last year and hold the ceremony at Larkin Plaza, store front owners in Getty Square demanded the city hold two ceremonies this year.
Trees in past years have been torn down, but officials say this year?s tree will stay firmly planted as a reminder of the holiday season.
