Yonkers City Council closing in on Ridge Hill project vote

(12/07/05) YONKERS ? Yonkers City Council President Richard Martinelli says a vote on the controversial Ridge Hill project could take place by this weekend.

Developer Forest City Ratner plans to develop office space, homes and stores on an 80-acre piece of land called Ridge Hill. Supporters of the project say it will be a huge economic boost for Yonkers. However, those against the plan feel it will create a traffic nightmare and take away business from local merchants.

Although a meeting on Ridge Hill had originally been planned for Thursday, Martinelli says it will now take place Friday. Martinelli says the delay will allow council members to tie up loose ends. According to the president, a vote on the project could take place at the Friday meeting.
