Suspect in NYPD cop killing identified as actor from Yonkers

An actor from Yonkers is one of the prime suspects in a shooting in the Bronx that claimed the life of an off-duty NYPD officer.

29-year-old Lillo Brancato Jr. and 48-year-old Steve Armento, both of Yonkers, are accused of fatally shooting 28-year-old police officer Daniel Enchautegui. Authorities say Enchautegui was shot and killed after confronting two men trying to burglarized his neighbor?s house. The officer managed to return gunfire before collapsing, injuring both suspects. Enchautegui died at Jacobi Medical Center. He is the second NYPD officer to die in as many weeks.

Brancato and Armento were apprehended and taken to the hospital in serious condition. Brancato, who appeared with Robert DeNiro in ?A Bronx Tale? and on ?The Sopranos,? was arrested in Yonkers in June for heroin possession and early this month for harassment.
