Westchester County Police Academy holds 120th commencement
The Westchester County Police Academy held its 120th commencement ceremony at SUNY Purchase Thursday.
All but one officer will be serving with police departments in Westchester, or as investigators with the District Attorney?s office. One of the newest Mount Vernon police officers, David Clarke, says he was drawn to police work through tragedy. In August 2000, Clarke?s brother Devon was found shot to death in Mount Vernon. Clarke says his loss has made him committed to protecting the people of his community.
Officer Clarke was also recognized in the ceremony as the recruit who performed best in defense tactics. That award goes to one member of every graduating class.
