Westchester legislators table plan to give themselves a pay raise

Westchester County legislators tabled a vote to increase their salaries after several residents voiced their disapproval.

The 32 percent raise would have increased salaries from $43,000 to $57,000. However, many residents say it is too much taxpayer money for what's supposed to be a part-time job. Westchester residents and taxpayers spoke out at a public hearing Monday, calling the proposed raise obscene and appalling.

Legislators decided to table the vote for now and it is unclear if they will bring back the issue.
