Express bus drivers strike in Yonkers demanding contract

Some 200 express bus drivers and mechanics walked off the job in Yonkers Tuesday demanding a contract.

Transit workers from the Local 100 have been working without a contract for two and a half years. The workers are being docked two days pay for every day they?re on strike, but they say it?s something they must do. The express buses were a part of Liberty Lines up until last year when they joined the MTA.

The workers say they want to get back on the roads as soon as possible, but won?t do so without a new contract. The BXM 1, 2, 3, 4, 11 and 18 lines have all been affected by the strike.Related Story:
