Vote on raises for county lawmakers put on hold
Westchester County legislators postponed a vote that would give them a 14.3 percent pay raise.
The decision came after a public hearing Tuesday. This was the second time the public was invited to speak on the pay raises that would increase legislators base salary from $43,000 to $49,000. Legislators initially proposed a 32 percent increase, but residents also largely opposed that.
Other issues being voted on include salary hikes for county executive, county clerk, and all the county commissioners. The vote needs to take place this week in order for the raises to go into effect for 2006.
