Spencer wins key endorsement for U.S. Senate bid

Former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer won a key endorsement from the head of the Westchester GOP in his bid for U.S. Senate.

Spencer will now try to take away the seat held by incumbent Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY). And while Spencer welcomes the county GOP support, he knows his campaign has a long way to go to get statewide recognition. Spencer says he hopes to join the ranks of other unknowns, such as former Peekskill mayor, Governor George Pataki (R-NY), and former state Senator Alphonse D?Amato, who was a Long Island town supervisor.

The county Republican Party support comes a week after Westchester District Attorney Jeanine Pirro bowed out of the Senate race to run for state attorney general.
