Westchester County legislators vote themselves pay raise

Bigger paychecks are coming for Westchester County legislators and several top elected officials as lawmakers voted for a pay hike Friday.

Legislators voted themselves a $6,000 increase and now the members will earn $49,200 as a base salary. Originally they proposed a 32 percent pay hike. After several heated public hearings the proposed increases were cut substantially.

Legislators also approved salary hikes for the county executive, district attorney and county clerk as well as dozen of county commissioners. No mention was made of the proposed pay increases during this fall?s elections.
