Fire destroys house, 3 cars in Orange County
A family is homeless after a fire broke out at a house in Warwick Wednesday night.
Fire officials say the fire was shooting through the roof of a house on Camelot Drive when they arrived on the scene. They say three cars in the driveway also went up in flames.
The homeowner did not want to go on camera, but told News 12 that he was awake and called 911 when he smelled smoke.
About 70 firefighters from eight departments fought the blaze that they say likely started in the garage. Chief Jason Brazier says crews also had to protect the house next door from radiant heat, which melted part of the siding.
All of the residents evacuated safely, and no injuries were reported. The Red Cross was on the scene and assisted the six adults who lived in the home.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but it is not deemed suspicious at this time.
