New minimum wage rate takes effect in Westchester and throughout state

An estimated 340,000 workers throughout the state will begin seeing an increase in their paychecks.
For the 17th time since 1960, the state minimum wage has increased. Workers who previously made $6 an hour will now be receiving $6.75. Several Westchester residents say the raise is needed, but think they still deserve more money.
The legislature has already passed an increase to $7.15 for January of 2007.
