A drunk driver who drove onto a sidewalk and killed a Yonkers woman will now spend at least three years in prison.
Twenty-five-year-old Christopher Kiernan was sentenced to three to nine years in prison Tuesday. The illegal Irish immigrant pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter for killing Carlene Joseph in June. Joseph was walking with her husband on Kimball Avenue in Yonkers when Kiernan apparently fell asleep at the wheel and plowed into them. Kiernan, who does not have a driver?s license, had a blood alcohol level five times over the legal limit.
After Kiernan serves out his sentence he will be immediately deported back to Ireland.
