Tanker truck overturns spilling gasoline in New Rochelle
A tanker truck overturned on an entrance ramp to I-95 spilling 2,000 gallons of gasoline Saturday.
Fire officials believe the driver lost control trying to enter the interstate. Emergency crews spent the morning cleaning up the gas, which was making its way into nearby sewers and ponds. Residents say they are glad crews identified a problem spot where water empties into the Long Island Sound.
The driver was not injured in the accident. Parts of Main Street in New Rochelle were closed and some Bee-Line buses had to be rerouted.
