Investigators in Somers search for evidence of arson in house fire

Police in Somers say there are strong indications that arson was the cause of a weekend fire that destroyed a house on Hilltop Drive.

Investigators say canine units have detected the possible presence of a chemical agent in the rubble and that soil samples have been sent to a crime lab for analysis. Police continue to search for a possible motive and suspects in the case.

The homeowner's son, Thomas Maffucci, is offering a $5,000 reward for any information regarding the fire. Police are asking anyone with information to call New York State Police at 914-277-3651.
