Harness racing back on at Yonkers Raceway

And they're off! Horses will soon be running again now that state fire marshals have given the green light Tuesday to the Yonkers Raceway.

Fire marshals and representatives from the Yonkers Fire Department determined that all but two of the raceway's 64 safety violations have been fixed. Tuesday's inspection focused on the stables and the clubhouse, where there were concerns about the size and number of exits for patrons.

The raceway has been closed since construction of the new Empire City Video Slots Casino began 18 months ago. The first race in two years is set for Friday.
