Mt. Vernon, Yonkers police try to find link in recent drug busts

Police in Mount Vernon and Yonkers are trying to find a link Tuesday between recent drug busts.

On Monday, police arrested 24-year-old Carlos Torres at his Yonkers home on Tuckahoe Road. Authorities found 15 kilos of cocaine and $100,000 in cash inside a hidden compartment in a car adjacent to Torres? home. According to police, the Yonkers raid netted cocaine with an estimated street value of $2 million.

The arrest of Torres comes on the heels of two arrests last week in Mount Vernon. According to police, officers found more than $200,000 in cocaine and cash along with a stun gun. Two people were arrested as a result of the raid in Mount Vernon. It has not yet been determine if the Yonkers and Mount Vernon arrests are related, but police did say the packaging of the drugs is similar.

Meanwhile, the two suspects in the Mount Vernon case have been charged with felony drug and weapons possession. Torres is facing drug possession charges. If convicted, all three face 25 years to life in prison.
