Woman robbed at knifepoint in Yorktown parking lot

Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a woman Thursday afternoon at knifepoint in a shopping center parking lot.

Yorktown police say the victim had just left a Wells Fargo ATM down the street and had parked in a Kmart parking lot for just a few minutes when a man opened her passenger side door and sat inside the car.

They say the man held knife to her side and demanded cash. The victim was taken to Hudson Valley Hospital, and is expected to be OK. The robber was able to flee with $240.

Police describe the robber as an African-American man in his early 20s who stood at about 5 foot 8 inches tall with pock marks on both cheeks.

Anyone with information about the suspect is urged to call Yorktown police.
