Ball drops, fireworks light up New Year

Millions of people across the globe rang in the New Year at midnight.

Thousands enjoyed the New Year's Eve bashes across the Hudson Valley.

The ball-dropping ceremony in White Plains drew about 20,000 revelers to last night's extravaganza.

In downtown Peekskill, hundreds gathered for the city's first ball drop and fireworks display. Organizers say it's a way to bring the community together to usher in 2015, and they hope to make it an annual Peekskill tradition.

More than a million people gathered in Times Square to welcome in the New Year, while Chicago and Las Vegas welcomed the New Year with huge fireworks displays.
