Route 17 in Sloatsburg reopened after car crash

Traffic on Route 17 is moving smoothly again but police are still trying to figure out what caused a crash near Park Avenue in Sloatsburg.

They say a car slammed into the back of a tractor's backhoe at around 5:30 p.m.

Ramapo police briefly closed down the southbound side of Route 17 as firefighters worked to free the car's driver.

Police say the woman was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and have not yet released information on her condition.

Sloatsburg native Chuck Nash saw the crash and says it was a frightening scene.
