Elderly business owner dead following brutal robbery

Police in Port Jervis say a beloved 77-year-old shoemaker has died after being brutalized in a vicious robbery.

The victim, Josef Kucher, owned Kucher's Shoe Sales and Repairs on Front Street.

Kucher was assaulted and robbed at his store.

Police say he was viciously attacked Friday and found by a customer with injuries to his head and face. He died on Saturday.

Police have a suspect in custody in Pennsylvania that they say has been linked to Kucher's death. He is being held on murder charges.

A press conference on the incident is scheduled for Monday.
