Comstock Heights affordable housing development in Briarcliff Manor holds ribbon-cutting
A new affordable housing complex held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday in Briarcliff Manor.
The ceremony was mostly a formality because more than half of the 16 units in the Comstock Heights housing development have been sold. Elly Chiu, who moved into her condo with her husband in late February, calls it a dream come true.
"For us, it is really a present from God, to have our own house," says Chiu.
Comstock Heights is one of the projects that fulfills Westchester County's commitment to provide 750 additional units of affordable housing. The decision was part of a 2009 out-of-court settlement with the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
