Anti-violence rally held on Palisade Avenue in Yonkers, where 3 were shot at a pizzeria
Dozens of people rallied Tuesday night near the pizzeria where three people, including a child, were shot Friday night.
Police say gunfire erupted outside the pizzeria just after 6 p.m. Friday night at the corner of Palisade Avenue and Elm Street. All three victims remain hospitalized and are expected to be OK. A 15-year-old boy was arrested Monday in connection with the shooting.
"We need to make a stand and let people know this is not acceptable in our community," says John Thompson, who organized Tuesday's rally.
Police have increased their presence in the area since Friday's shooting. But, rally organizers say the community also needs to step up its own efforts.
The local YMCA says there will be more opportunities to promote change. They will be holding an anti-gun violence event on June 28 at the Yonkers Police Athletic League.
