‘Tragedy on Hudson’ sparks significant changes for Tappan Zee construction
While the government and Tappan Zee Constructors maintain that barges were properly lit during the "Tragedy on the Hudson" accident, the tragedy did spark significant changes on the Hudson River.
Crews added more lighting and buoys to the barges.
They also launched an online GPS tracking system to allow boaters to track the location of construction vessels. Additionally, the Coast Guard restricted travel in the area to keep boaters away from the construction zone.
